Travel Companion Program

Harbour Air is pleased to partner with Ultima Medical Services (Ultima) to support passengers with cognitive challenges or those who are not self-reliant through our Travel Companion Program. The program allows passengers who require the support of a travel companion to seamlessly qualify for discounted companion fares, while keeping their medical information confidential.

How do I apply?
Passengers who wish to apply for this program will ask their physician to complete Harbour Air’s Medical Information Form and submit this form directly to Ultima. One of Ultima’s physicians will review the application and confirm whether the passenger qualifies for the Travel Companion Program. Please note, all medical information is confidential and is not shared with Harbour Air.

What happens next?
Once the application is reviewed, Harbour Air will connect with each applicant’s care giver to confirm the passenger’s eligibility (this typically takes up to 2-3 days). Harbour Air profiles will be updated for all qualified passengers to allow easy and seamless bookings for themselves and their approved travel companion. Qualified passengers can provide up to two approved travel companions to be noted on their profile.

How do I book?
All qualified passengers must call in to Harbour Air’s friendly reservations team to book their travel. This ensures that the correct profile is being used and any additional pre- or post-boarding details can be noted to better assist the passenger during their flight(s).

What happens at the terminal?
On the day of your flight, both passengers travelling will be asked to check in at least 45 minutes before the departure time, ensuring ample time to assist with pre-boarding. Please bring photo ID for both travelling passengers. Approximately 15 minutes before boarding (or earlier depending on your travel profile requests), the front counter team will call your names for pre-boarding. A team member will assist you to the dock and aircraft so that you are both able to board the aircraft with ease. If you require assistance post-flight, please remain seated and our team will happily provide additional time and assist you with disembarking the aircraft.

This program is for those passengers who have cognitive challenges or are not self-reliant and require a travel companion for safety. The Travel Companion Program offers discounted travel for a passenger’s travel attendant. To participate in the program, passengers must require a travel companion for safety, as assessed by a medical professional.

Passengers who wish to apply for this program must ask their physician to complete Harbour Air’s Medical Information Form and submit this form directly to Ultima Medical Services. One of Ultima’s physicians will then review the application and confirm whether the passenger qualifies for the Travel Companion Program. Please note, all medical information is confidential and is not shared with Harbour Air.

Once the application is reviewed, Ultima will notify Harbour Air about the passenger’s eligibility for the program. Once reviewed, Harbour Air will connect with each applicant’s care giver to confirm the passenger’s eligibility (this typically takes up to 2-3 days) and update their travel profile.

Only the Ultima Medical Services team sees your personal medical information. Once the Ultima’s physician team has reviewed the completed Harbour Air Medical Information Form, the physician processes the application and contacts Harbour Air’s Safety Department. The only information provided to Harbour Air is whether the applicant is approved, or not approved, for the Travel Companion Program. Please note, at no time does Harbour Air see or ask the passenger about their medical information or disability.

Qualified passengers in the Travel Companion Program pay the regular flight fare, and the companion pays a $0 fare for a return trip. Please note, companion fares are subject to carbon offset taxes, fuel surcharges, applicable port/dock fees, and taxes. The return flight ($0 fare, plus taxes and fees) is applicable for the next available Harbour Air flight (to the original departure location). Alternately, companions can request an alternative time or day depending on availability.

No, to qualify for the $0 companion fare, passengers but be approved by and have written confirmation from Ultima Medical Services before booking travel.

Qualifying passengers in the Travel Companion Program may register up to a maximum of 2 companions in their profile. Registered travel companions may be changed at any time by contacting Harbour Air’s reservation team to update the passenger’s profile.
