Showing support to the coastal BC communities who have chosen Harbour Air for over 38 years is what Share the Fare is all about.

We’re sharing and you can too.

In addition to volunteering our time in the communities we serve, every Friday at Harbour Air is a “Share the Fare Friday!” For every Friday passenger flying with us, we’ll donate $1 on your behalf to our charity partners.

You can help make a difference with a Share the Fare donation of your own on any flight, any day. Ask us how!

Sharing above & beyond.

Our Share the Fare program works alongside our ongoing commitments to giving back in our communities. In our first three years of Share the Fare we donated on behalf of more than 65,000 passengers, raising more than $230,00! Sharing where it means the most.

In 2020, Share the Fare contributions will now directly benefit our charity of choice partner: The BC Cancer Foundation. Driving innovative and world-leading cancer treatments and programs, every dollar raised stays at BC Cancer to advance research, innovate care and break down cancer to benefit the people of BC.

As a BC based organization, Harbour Air aims to have a meaningful impact on people’s lives and the communities where we operate. We know that cancer is the #1 health issue on British Columbians’ minds and BC Cancer is a global leader in advancing research, enhancing care and breaking down cancer to benefit the people of BC.

Through Share the Fare and Harbour Air’s Ride to Conquer Cancer initiatives, we have raised more than $623,000 over the last three years.

Making a difference. Fly to Conquer Cancer.

Through Share the Fare and Harbour Air’s Ride to Conquer Cancer initiatives, since 2017, we have raised more than $623,000

Each year, Harbour Air carefully selects an in-need project at BC Cancer, where we see exciting potential to make a meaningful and lasting impact in improving cancer outcomes. Over the past three years the funds have supported:

  • The development of a new form of cancer treatment called radionuclide therapy. Through this support, a clinical trial at BC Cancer is now underway, testing this therapy in prostate cancer patients. BC Cancer is a global leader in the development of radiopharmaceuticals that advance cancer detection and treatment.
  • A study called LOGIC is underway to advance care for patients with GI cancers. The study is utilizing a high-tech blood test that can detect find tiny fragments of the cancer’s DNA – called ctDNA – in the patient’s blood and aid in precise treatment decisions and earlier detection to support early detection of recurrence.
  • This year, 2020, we are thrilled to be raising funds to advance innovative, immunotherapy treatment options for childhood cancers. The BC Cancer study is identifying new treatment targets on the surface of tumour cells that will lead to the development of immunotherapies to treatment patients with high-risk childhood cancers.

About BC Cancer Foundation:

The BC Cancer Foundation believes that together, BC CAN break down cancer.

We are the fundraising partner of BC Cancer. Every dollar we raise stays at BC Cancer to advance research and enhance care for the people of BC and beyond by connecting personalized care, innovative research and opportunities to contribute.

At the BC Cancer Foundation we believe that with your help, BC CAN make a difference in the lives of all British Columbians. We know that one in two people in our province will face cancer in their lifetime and we’re igniting progress to break down cancer, piece by piece, in the labs and clinics. Q: What BC Cancer project is Harbour Air currently supporting?

A: This year (2020), we are raising funds to advance treatment options for childhood cancers. The BC Cancer study is identifying new treatment targets on the surface of tumour cells that will lead to the development of immunotherapies to treatment patients with high-risk childhood cancers.

About the project: Immunotherapy is a method of treating cancer that harnesses the patient’s own immune system to target tumour cells while minimizing side effects. It is an exceptionally promising option for children facing cancer because it is more precise and potentially less toxic. More research is urgently needed to determine how best to apply immunotherapy to solid tumours.

The funds will support Dr. Poul Sorensen and his team at BC Cancer as they deliver at least 5-10 new validated targets and immunotherapeutic tools to target them each year, for potential clinical application.

Why is it important? Today, most childhood cancers are treated with chemotherapy, surgery and/or radiation, each of which can be associated with significant side effects in children. BC Cancer scientists led by Dr. Poul Sorensen are developing immunotherapy-based treatments for childhood cancers that will help avoid side effects and target the tumour cells more precisely.

Less negative impacts. More meaningful change. More kids getting to be kids.
