Our goal is to get you to your destination safely and as scheduled. Sometimes unforeseeable occurrences or events beyond our control lead to delays, cancellations or diversions. To minimize any inconvenience, we will do our best to keep you informed and get you on your way as quickly as possible.
Rest assured, we are always here to help, whether that be in person or over the phone. However if you’d prefer to keep it online, please visit our alternate transportation webpage where we’ve done our best to make it easy to understand other ways you can make it to your destination.
In the event of a cancelled flight that requires rebooking, please log into your Harbour Air Seaplanes account, or contact our Reservations Centre at 1.800.665.0212.
Weather-Related Flight Disruptions
Keep you moving, all year long.
Weather conditions on BC’s coast can change quickly. While we maintain an annual 98% reliability factor on our scheduled services, passenger safety and comfort is our top priority. This means that challenging conditions like fog, snow or extreme winds can cause us to temporarily suspend service.
Harbour Air has contingencies in place for weather-related flight disruptions. In some cases, we are able to re-route a flight to an alternate, nearby location and then provide ground transportation to the original destination. In situations where conditions are unsuitable for us to operate flights, we partner with other transportation providers1, including some land-based airline operators, to help keep our passengers moving during the winter months.
During this time, we regularly shuttle passengers from our downtown Vancouver, Richmond (YVR South), Victoria and Nanaimo terminals to available land-based flights operated by an airline partner between airports. Upon arrival, we will provide ground transportation (a shuttle or taxi) to the original Harbour Air destination terminal or, if more convenient, to available transit routes (Canada Line station)2.
Rest assured, we do our best to assist guests in finding an alternate travel solution to help get you to your final destination.
Keeping you informed
We’re committed to keeping you up-to-date with flight status information. As a Harbour Air passenger, you may be contacted by email, phone or text with flight status updates, so please make sure that we have your correct contact information. You can always see the status of our flights on our website or mobile app, and of course, a real, live human being is only a phone call away at 1.800.665.0212.
While we can’t control the weather, we are committed to getting you to your destination safely, efficiently and in comfort3.
1 Due to fixed operating costs associated with partner travel, alternate transportation options may be offered as an upgrade to your booked fare.
2 Shuttle and taxi transportation is limited from the arrival destination to the Harbour Air destination terminal and cannot make additional stops beyond the designated transit route.
3 Compensation is not provided for weather delayed or cancelled flights. Please ask one of our friendly representatives for more information.
